Chocolate british shorthairs are not at gccf champion status (yet!) and I have been trying very hard to breed them close to the breed standard as much as possible, I really look forward to seeing the day they get the status they so well deserve. I myself have not quite got them to the standard of points (sop) yet and i've been breeding them for over 10 years! saying that we have removed certain lines and had to start a fresh 4 times!
Lucky for me my Chocolate stud Eddie is from one of my foundation lines and that line never needed to be changed, I worked with Eddie's father Wilkikatz cafe latte 6 times to test the new line before keeping any new breeding cats, I only got one kitten from 25 which was Eddie that was even worth working with, I even debated keeping him. Eddie has his mothers type/coat " Hotchoclate Purrdita" and his fathers eye colour and ears only! My chocolate selfs are not ready for showing, sadly Eddie has poor eye colour and if only he would get in that darn cat basket i might be able to show off his good sides! we have queens which have good type/eye colour but coats not short enough, lets hope the offspring have both parents GOOD qualities. To move forward with my Chocolate breeding programe I had to produce some carries as using two visuals ended up producing bitter Chocolates with not much type. next year 2008 will see the results of what I have been working to acheive.
